Never before have we seen such funny and interesting tricks in any Hungarian film as in the fairy tale film 'The magic table'. Three young lads, three brothers make up their minds to go into the world and try their luck. They start out together but part at the crossroads. All three of them take different roads. The eldest brother meets a giant and has the chance to be of service to him by pulling out a thorn from his back. As a reward the giant presents him with a magic table which at the incantation: 'Spread my littie table' is loaded immediately with excellent food and drinks. The second boy meets dwarfs. He does them a good turn and thus receives from them a kettle which always refills itself with gllttering gold. The youngest lad has the most adventurous journey of all. His road leads him to the hut of an ugly old hag. He greets her politely ond tries to be helpful to her but the wicked old witch repays his services with cruelty, she wants to kill him. The lad, however, succeeds to outwit her and though he could kill her, he spares her life in return for her magic wand which, when ordered 'Strike out my littIe wand!' will give a good licking to the person at whom it is pointed. The three lads rejoin each other at the roadside inn which had been appointed by them for their meeting. First the eldest gets there and is soon joined by the second brother. The greedy innkeeper covets their treasures and plans to kill the brothers. The youngest lad arrives just at the right moment and, with the help of his magic cane, soon succeeds to settIe the affair. The innkeeper returns the treasures and the three lads retum happily to their mother.

A szegény asszony három fia elindul szerencsét próbálni.
