This week the courts ruled that the Bank of England should not release Venezuelan gold to Maduro, due to the disputed presidency. However, this sets dangerous precedence that the Bank of England can bypass law with political disagreements. It especially spells risk for anyone who owns gold held at the Bank of England - which likely means that owners of GLD (the gold ETF) are at risk as well.
