Az amerikai Samantha (Jennifer Love Hewitt) egy neves londoni zeneiskolában tanul, és a szabad szellemű, csupa tűz lány őrülten szerelmes brit barátjába, Ianbe (Paul Nicholls). Ian azonban csak a munkájának él, így még arra sincs ideje, hogy végiggondolja: ha nem törődik az érzelmeivel, és elhanyagolja barátnőjét, végleg elveszítheti. Amikor aztán Samanthát végzetes baleset éri, Ian végre ráébred, mit is jelentett számára a lány. Bárcsak elmondhatta volna neki... Vagy még nem késő?
