Goose (James Lugton) és P.J. (Angelo D'Angelo) állandóan együtt bringáznak, de nem nagyon tűrik meg őket a város utcáin. Ezért arról álmodoznak, hogy egyszer nekik is lesz a rendőrökéhez hasonló adóvevőjük, amellyel kijátszhatják majd a rend fenntartóit. Egy baleset során találkoznak Judyval (Nicole Kidman), aki nyári munkával próbálja megkeresni a BMX biciklire valót. Ezek után együtt próbálnak különböző módon pénzhez jutni. Egy alkalommal belebotlanak egy rejtélyes csomagba, amelyben tucatnyi adóvevőt találnak. Elkezdik értékesíteni őket, de a legnagyobb probléma az, hogy az adóvevők egy betörő banda legújabb tervének fontos kellékei. A bűnözők pedig minden áron vissza akarják szerezni azt, ami az övék.
