The main similarities/differences between a debit card and a credit card are:
1. Debit Cards take money right out of your bank account. Credit cards offer you a line of credit that you can buy against, without having the money on hand (not always good due to going into debt!).
2. Debit cards do still carry the same fraud and dispute privilege as a credit card.
3. Credit Cards, when used correctly, give you TRIP/TRAVEL rewards or CASH BACK Rewards! I have earned over $82+ with my American Express Card. For years I used a Debit Card instead of a Credit Card because I was a loyal Dave Ramsey follower and figured that credit cards were a bad thing! But then I started thinking about it...if I am responsible with how I handle my money and focus on a tool that I can create that treats my credit card like a debit card....well then I can focus on earning cash back rewards!
