Schools and colleges shut in England as Covid-19 cases surge | ITV News

The biggest change announced by Boris Johnson was that decision to shut schools and colleges, while most students must stay away from university.

Only this morning, he said closing primary schools was one of his greatest misgivings of the first lockdown.

But with pupils likely to spread the virus, he made what many believed was an inevitable decision.

This summer's exams haven't been formally cancelled yet, but with so-called "alternative arrangements" being made, the prime minister effectively announced tonight that they will be scrapped.
