Yoda served as Jedi Grand Master during the Clone Wars, and after Order 66 he trained Luke Skywalker to destroy the Sith. But who trained Yoda?
In Legends, his name was N’Kata Del Gormo, a Hysalrian who became a Master in the Jedi Order. He was visited by Yoda and his friend who had crashed-landed on his swamp world and were in need of his help. Master Del Gormo was intrigued by his guests and informed them that they were Force-sensitive. He then offered to accept them both as his Padawans.
Later, a Republic starship responding to Yoda's initial distress call arrived and transported Yoda to Coruscant so that he could continue his training at the Jedi Temple. Much of Yoda’s past is unknown, as Emperor Palpatine had Jedi records erased during the Great Jedi Purge.
